So Sabrina, I see you’re back for lesson 2 in the School of Life Series! Good job! I’m so proud of you for your commitment to the class 👏🏽 I promise the lessons won’t be THAT hard. And when all is said and done, you’ll get to graduate! So just study up. And I know, I know— it’s A LOT of reading. But Iin order to be the best bruja you can be, you gotta pick up the books. So are you ready? Class is now in session! This lesson is on the Goddess Aphrodite (aka Venus) and on the planet Venus. You’ll be learning how to raise your vibrations so you can feel like Venus on Valentines Day. When all is said and done, you’ll be able to carry yourself with the same aura as Aphrodite (aka Venus). We’ll leave you off with a few affirmations from the Goddess Aphrodite herself.
Before we dive into Venus, let’s revisit the recent discussions on frequencies. If you’re not yet familiar with the basics of frequencies, check out the last two articles on it: https://www.bougiebrujas.com/2024/01/06/the-school-of-life-lesson-1-how-to-start-the-year-off-in-mercury-retrograde-shadow-period-4-ways-to-manifest-with-music/ and https://www.bougiebrujas.com/2023/12/12/the-magic-in-making-meals-3-ways-to-conjure-with-cooking/
They provide insights into why frequencies matter and how to elevate them, particularly concerning the planet we’re focusing on. In our previous sessions, we explored Mercury, enhancing communication skills, and using music for manifestation. Today, the spotlight is on Venus, aligning with the upcoming Valentine’s Day.
The planet of love is definitely weighing heavy on peoples minds. We’re going to learn a bit about the planet Venus, the story behind the Goddess Aphrodite (also known as Venus), and learn how to raise your vibrations by working with Venus (both Venus the planet and Venus the goddess). By the time you’re done, you’ll have all the tips and tricks to get that Aphrodite glow! You’ll have her aura, and you’ll even receive a few of her affirmations. And if you work with her well enough, she may even make some of your manifestations come true too!
What is Venus?
I LOVE Venus. This pearly white planet is the second closest planet to the sun. It’s called the “twin planet” to earth because they’re the same size— but they must be fraternal twins because the two are nothing alike. Their frequencies and energies are SO different! The frequency of Venus is 221.23 Hz, the HIGHEST vibrating planet out of all of them. Venus literally operates on love and optimism. And earth, the planet following Venus in numerological order, has the second lowest frequency of all planets. Let’s just say— earthlings can learn a lot from Venusians. The energy of Venus literally radiates love, and everyone on earth can use a little more of it. So make sure you listen up!! Music is the quickest way to the soul in my opinion. It goes right into our ears and pierces our hearts and minds. Even if you can’t hear it, it still finds a way to speak to you. You can feel the beat touching you. That’s bass. Energy. Frequency. That said, Venus is in the key of A. If you need a fast way to boost your frequency, I highly recommend you listen to some songs in that key. If you’re feeling low, this may raise your vibrations. Some of my favorite songs in the key of A are:
~ I Want It That Way x Backstreet Boys
~ Someone Like You x Adele
~ September x Earth, Wind, & Fire
~ My Immortal x Evanescence
~ Take On Me x Aha
~ Bad x Michael Jackson
~ Pompeii x Bastille
~ Dancing Queen x ABBA
~ Girl On Fire x Alicia Keys
~ Magic x Coldplay
~ Halo x Beyonce
I will ALWAYS advocate this as the first way to raise your frequency. Frequency is quite literally music and vice versa. Despite our biology, music can quite literally go into our brains and change our chemistry. If you can change the brain, you can change the body. That’s the elements, and that’s alchemy. We’re literally made of magic and music are spells. In order to get on the same vibration as Venus, we want to listen to “feel good” music. And now that we know a bit about Venus (the planet), I’m going to teach you a bit about Venus (the goddess). You’ll then learn how to have the same aura as Aphrodite, how to affirm like her, and how to harness your magic like her to manifest.

Who is Aphrodite?
Aphrodite is an Ancient Greek goddess associated with love, lust, beauty, power, and procreation. Her Roman goddess counterpart, Venus, used interchangeably with the planet, represents desire, sex, fertility, prosperity, and victory. Outside of her Greek and Roman epithets, Aphrodite had many evolutions, including but not limited to: Astarte, the Phoenician love goddess (in what’s now modern say Syria); Isis, her Egyptian counterpart; and Inanna, her Mesopotamian equivalent.
Aphrodite has two origin stories. The first one suggest that she’s the daughter of Zeus, and the other suggest that she was born of seafoam from the remains of Uranus. Plato asserts that there is a distinction between the two stories; Aphrodite as a goddess (by the name of Aphrodite Urania) and Aphrodite as a human (by the name of Aphrodite Pandemos). Regardless of who her parents were, she was believed to have been born in Cyprus.
In Greek Mythology, Aphrodite was married to Hephaestus, the god of fire, blacksmiths, and metalworking. It’s believed that she was so beautiful, the Gods would fight for her hand in marriage. Zeus thought he settled the matters by marrying Aphrodite off to Hephaestus; however, Aphrodite didn’t love him, and she went on to have many other consorts, one of which included Hephaestus’ brother, Ares— God of war. They produced many children together including Eros, Phobos, Deimos, Harmonia, Anteros, Adrestia, and possibly Pothos and Himerod.
And if you know the stories of Aphrodite, then you must be wondering how the Goddess of Love could be filled with so much jealousy… so much rage. And well… maybe there isn’t much of a difference between love and war. Maybe opposites really DO attract. Maybe our romantic partners really are our mirrors. Maybe earth and Venus are twin planets because we can find ourselves in our partner. Maybe it’s because we find ourselves fighting for the ones we love.
And I can go on FOREVER talking about the stories of Aphrodite: her curse on Narcissist for breaking Echo’s heart, her beef with Persephone over Adonis– King Cinyras of Cyprus’ son, the whole causing the Trojan War thing, and her curses on— well— anyone who claimed to be more beautiful than her; however, I highly recommend going on those deep dives and reading the direct stories themselves. Read Homers Odyssey, Metamorphesus by Ovid, Venus & Aphrodite by Bethany Hughes, and of course the Percy Jackson series for some fun fundamentals on the history of the Hellenistic goddess! And I already know what you’re thinking, Aphrodite?? SHE has the highest vibration of love and peace out everyone? Yes, she sure does. Everyone has a past, and even Gods evolve. She doesn’t live in her bitterness, and she strives for a brighter future. Her energy— her frequency— calls for her to fix things. She is MOTHER! And she is and always will be a beauty and a baddie!
Outside of all of that, all you need to know about our Love Goddess is that she works with:
The Animals:
dolphin, sparrow, dove, swan, hare, goose, bee, fish, butterfly
The Symbols:
roses, seashell, pearl, mirror, girdle, anemone, lettuce, narcissus
The trees:
myrrh, myrtle, apple, pomegranate
So if you want to work with Aphrodite and get her glow, you may want to ask her to send you these signs, wear them as jewelry, or leave these as offering for her on your alter.

How to get that Aphrodite Aura by Valentines Day ❤️🔥
~ Love yourself, first and foremost!! ♡
Whether you’re searching for romantic love or looking to improve platonic relationships, the most important thing to remember is to love yourself. This is first and foremost, therefore it’s first on the list. Aphrodite is quite literally her own biggest fan. Everyone and everything else is runner up. She doesn’t chase, she attracts. That’s her aura— it allures. No matter its color that day, she knows how to keep herself calm and collected. She lets herself feel for five minutes, then she lets it go. She remembers that only her own love will come first and foremost. You can’t pour from a cup half empty. So after you love yourself, you can immediately love everyone else. If you have the Romance Angels Oracle Deck by Doreen Virtue, I recommend leaving the “Love Yourself First,” card on your alter. It lets Aphrodite know you’re serious about your self love journey. Plus, the card has cute little art of work of Cupid (aka Eros, son of Aphrodite) in the background! It helps us remember that our end goal here is to have the same aura as Goddess Aphrodite.
If you don’t have the card, write the words “Love yourself first: your self respect makes you more attractive” on a sticky note in a pink or red pen. Leave it on the wall above your alter or on the alter itself.
~ Offer Aphrodite a mixed drink: something red or pink 🍹
And speaking of alters, Aphrodite gets reeeaaaallll bubbly when she has some bubbly in her system 😝 So pour one up for her, and leave it on your alter as offering. Then, get ready to write what she says down! You can also leave her with a wishlist, and she’ll find ways to make it come true (like it’s Christmas). Trust me— whether you believe in Aphrodite or not, she loves you. She loves ALL. So just TRY to connect with her— she’ll make it come true. Just make sure you make her drink super cute! Aphrodite is a sucker for a silly straw and umbrella. And add some edible glitter or flower petals for the extra razzle dazzle. Leave her some margaritas or wine, and she’ll bless you with one of your manifestations, leave you some wisdom, or leave you with signs. And if you (can) drink, have one with her! Make a toast to loving yourselves and send love out to others.
~ Be A Bare Faced Baddie For A Bit (then go big or go home on Valentines Day) 💁🏽♀️
For the first two weeks of February, go barefaced. And every day tell yourself one thing you love about a different part of your body. Do this everyday for two weeks. OR, if you just CAN’T go without your make up, then just consider swindling it down. Maybe only do one part of your face a day so you can still step into this Aphrodite energy and practice this exercise. Because although Aphrodite LOVES a beat face as much as the next bruja, she also knows not to beat up on her natural looks. That said, consider only doing your brows one day, your eyeliner only the next, your mascara the day after, and your lips the day after that. Focus on loving that part of your body that day— whatever part has the make up on. Let this be your reminder that make up is only a tool to highlight this body part. When you take it off for the day, say affirmations you’re beautiful with or without it. Also, consider this as your opportunity to try something bold. Go ahead and try that new red lipstick, or go for the bright blue eye shadow. At least you wont have the pressure of color matching a whole face while having the privilege of still trying a new make up look.
And when Valentine’s Day comes around? Go big or go home! Beat your WHOLE face, do a full beauty look. We want to see thee glitz and glam— that’s how you’ll find your Aphrodite glow. By the time Valentine’s Day comes around, you’ll be reminded that make up is like decorations on a cake and you’re fine with or without the sprinkles and frosting. Because either way, you’re gonna get ate 😝 So just be the baddie you already know you are.
~ Butterflies and Bows in Your Fro 🎀🦋
Aphrodite wants afro designs this Valentines 😍 Because remember— it’s not just the holiday of love— it’s Black History Month. And I know y’all didn’t think AFROdite wasn’t going to have some hair request! She wants you to do something special with your do! Add a braid, a bow, or butterfly clip 🦋 Just make sure you give your fro a switch! Or maybe you’re a black girl/guy/enby who likes to wear braids. She insist that you weave flowers into them, like a bouquet! Make your hair an Aphrodite offering to bring in Embolic season.
~ Cut off dead ends ✂️
This is a double entendre. Do you think she because the Goddess of Love by staying in contact with every lover and keeping their numbers? No. Absolutely not. It’s time to cut people off. Feel like that’s too hard to do? Then let’s start small. Start by cutting yourself off from something. If you check their social media too much, cut your social media access. Limit your time online. Hell, get an app that auto locks if you have to. If you drink or smoke too much as a coping mechanism to stop thinking about them, cut off your substance supply. Or maybe you need a minor change that also serves as a reminder every time you look in the mirror— so cut your hair. You don’t have to do a big chop or anything, but cut off those dead ends. It’ll make it easier to cut off relationships that have come to a dead end.
~ Love others 🫂
Be a GIRLS girl especially. Aphrodite is for the gays, the theys, and the girls. She does not discriminate! Aphrodite’s love runs deep. It’s no wonder this goddess is on the planet with the highest vibration. She doesn’t let anything bring her down. When you operate in a body of love, you can’t let hate in. It’s also an important reminder that love always wins.
And be quick, don’t let the moment pass you by. Sometimes the reason we can’t connect to our Gods/Goddesses is because their vibrations are real high. You have to meet them half way in order to hear what they gave to say. So have a sip yourself and a hit of weed if you smoke. Remember— substances can be spiritual
14 Affirmations & Advices from Aphrodite:
- Repeat: “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Self love should only grow fonder as you grow older.”
- Stop looking at life like a headshot, and look at the bigger picture. Who cares about being the main character when you treat other people like they don’t matter?
- Change your outlook and it’ll change your outter looks. How you look at life determines who you are inside. Changing the outside starts within. Remember beauty is only as deep as the skin.
- She says “treat your animals like your children. They are the babies of the earth that we didn’t birth.”
